23 Jun 2018 : Two 'keepers hold up hands to be No.1 at The Millbank

The goalkeeping position at Runcorn Linnets will continue to be in safe hands as the club embraces a new era in EVO-STIK League football.

Dylan Forth and Matt Holmes have both confirmed they are  willing and ready to continue contesting the No.1 shirt in the newly-promoted team.

Dylan ended the club's title-winning Hallmark Security League Premier Division season in pole position, after joining for the last two months.

A string of impressive performances saw him grab the Linnets' Millbank Player of the Month award for April.

However, the young ex-Aston Villa shotstopper will again have Matt Holmes for company in the goalkeeping department.

Matt has likewise performed to a consistently high level in his time at The Millbank.

The battle between the two is certain to keep both players on their toes and that can only bode well for manager Michael Ellison.

'We want strong competition for places at the club and the goalkeeping role is no different to any other position,' said Ellison.

'Both Dylan and Matt have excellent all-round games and have already shown our fans that they are more than capable of holding down a regular place in the side and doing well for us.

'Whoever starts the season will know full well that they have someone equally able waiting in the wings.

'I am sure there will again be  healthy competition between the pair of them. Long may it continue.'
