17 Aug 2019 : Kurt Sherlock looks for extended run after injury recovery

Now well down the road to recovery from summer sugery on a damaged hand and also a return to full match fitness, Kurt Sherlock has enlisted again for the new campaign.

In his second spell at Runcorn Linnets, Kurt made 33 appearances in 2018-19, netting 11 times, and taking his Linnets career total to 89 outings with 28 goals.

Kurt had been welcomed back into the fold in late July 2018, after a two-season absence.

Manager Michael Ellison said: "I think it's fair to say Kurt had a stop and start season last year; he picked up a number of injuries throughout the season and never really had run in the side that both of us wanted.

"Having said that, he still managed to score 11 goals, and a number of assists, with a few screamers along the way.

"He gives us that real creativity further up the pitch and on his day is as good as anyone.

"After a couple of weeks out with injury he's come back with a real determination this season and once he's fully up and running he will be massive for us."

Kurt's first stint with Linnets saw him enter our FA Cup record books.

The striker's five goals in a home extra preliminary round replay against Glasshoughton Welfare in 2015-16 ranks as a Linnets best goals haul for any game in the competition.

Kurt is a hard-working striker with an eye for a spectacular strike - none better than his ultra long-range effort at Abbey Hey in September 2015, voted Linnets' Goal of the Season.

He played in the North West Counties Football League for a number of seasons representing Formby and Bootle before initially joining the Linnets in December 2014, scoring 17 times in 56 appearances.

On departing The Millbank in the summer of 2016, Kurt played in Vanarama National League North for Stalybridge Celtic, for both Marine and Radcliffe in the Northern Premier League and Welsh Premier League outfit Aberystwyth Town.
