05 Nov 2018 : Linnets team up for YouFit health club unveiling at Holiday Inn Runcorn

RUNCORN Linnets proved a perfect match for the Holiday Inn Runcorn as the hotel unveiled its revamped health club.

The EVO-STIK League football club's players spent one of their traditional midweek training nights in the unaccustomed surroundings of the new YouFit Health Club at the Wood Lane hotel.

During a special evening to mark the name change from Spirit Health Club and its improved facilities, the Linnets first team made full use in the health club's gym, enjoyed a swim and met health club members.

Linnets also donated a signed matchball and matchday admission tickets as prizes for a charity raffle organised as part of the festivites.

Health centre manager Steve McDonald said: "Tracy Measor, who works with us at the Holiday Inn (as housekeeping manager) helped to arrange for the Runcorn Linnets players to come to our rebrand evening.

"Also at Runcorn Linnets is Ellen Johnston, who as well as being the football club's massage therapist, works here in the health club, providing sports massage. So we have the community link.

"The Linnets donated a football signed by the first team and two home match tickets to be added to our raffle for our charity."

The benefitting good cause, Greenfingers, creates sensory gardens at children's hospices.

Mr McDonald added: "We have made over 300 which is fantastic and I just want to say a big thank you to everyone from Runcorn Linnets Football Club."

The rebrand came into effect on October 10th.

You Fit is operational not only at Runcorn but throughout the UK at Holiday Inn sites and other hotels likewise run by Kew Green Hotels Limited.

A website has been created for the rebranded gym at www.

This gives current members an exclusive area to access their benefits package and up-to- date information, such as class timetables and opening hours.

Mr McDonald added: "This is a fantastic opportunity for our local residents and members to see we are a club with a community feel; a club were you fit in, hence the name YouFit."

Tracy Measor, club secretary of Runcorn Linnets said: "Our first team players thoroughly enjoyed their evening at the YouFit Health Club and were really impressed by the enhanced facilities.

"We were delighted to help to raise money for a very worthy cause and wish the management and staff of at the health club every success."
