Welcome

Welcome to the official website of Runcorn Linnets FC.

We are a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and were formed in the 2006 off-season by the fans of the now defunct Runcorn FC (which was playing under the name "Runcorn FC Halton" at the time). Although when we formed we were technically a "new" club, the Linnets were given special dispensation by the FA to be treated as a reformed version of Runcorn FC - the special dispensation was necessary as the old club had simply become dormant, choosing not to field a team, as opposed to ceasing to exist as a legal entity.

We currently play in the Hallmark Security Football League (North West Counties Football League), and were awarded Charter Standard in October 2011.

Football clubs Runcorn Linnets and Maine Road raise £350 for children's cancer charities

Organisers say that at least £350 was collected at the Runcorn Linnets v Maine Road match in support of children's cancer charities.

The community-wide fundraising effort was in memory of former Runcorn Town junior footballer Charlie Lunt on the first annversary of his death, aged 10.

In total, £1,267 was raised on the day. There were contributions of £120 from Runcorn Linnets FC first team squad and £50 from Maine Road FC as well as bucket donations by club officials and fans.

The beneficiaries were James Apter Friendship Fund, CHICS (Children's Cancer Care Support Group) and The Owen McVeigh Foundation - all supported Charlie during his year-long illness.

Charlie's family and friends thank everyone who donated for their support.
