Freddie Potter

Position : Forward

Linnets' talismanic striker made a big contribution to our 2017-18 title success in The Hallmark Security League Premier Division, not only with his 26 goals but also his all-round efforts in leading the line.

If you consider Freddie started only 23 games - 21 of his 44 appearances being off the bench - his goal return was truly excellent. The front man's season had been interrupted by a serious collar bone injury, sustained in an FA Cup tie at Ashton Athletic.

However, such a healthy goals-per-game ratio is what we have come to expect from Freddie who by the end of the championship-winning campaign had netted 58 times in his 106 Linnets oiutings.

Freddie originally joined Runcorn Linnets in December 2014 from North West Counties Division One side, Cammell Laird 1907. He made a goalscoring debut as a substitute bench to win the Runcorn derby, instantly becoming a fans favourite.

Freddie returned to the club in January 2017, having in pre-season joined Hallmark Security League Premier Division neighbours, AFC Liverpool. His first spell at the Millbank Linnets Stadium brought him 30 goals from 55 appearances, including six as a sub.

Back in 2006, he was on the books of Chester FC who were in the Football Conference at the time. In 2008, he represented Marine in the Northern Premier League and later moved on to Burscough before taking time out of the game.

Upon his return to non-league football in 2011 with Cammell Laird, he scored a number of goals to help them into the NPL First Division Play Off Final where they were defeated by Trafford on penalties. Upon leaving Lairds in 2014, he was the club's top scorer with 23 goals in 19 games.

2017-18 saw Freddie pick up several end-of-season accolades at Runcorn Linnets, including the leading goalscorer, Away Player of the Year and the Goal of the Season awards.

Runcorn Linnets would like to thank Derek Greenwood who has kindly sponsored Freddie Potter.
