Danny McKenna

Position : -Defender

Teenager Danny arrived on the scene just two days before the start of the 2016-17 season but wasted absolutely no time in proving his mettle.

He arrived on a dual registration from Evo-Stik League side Witton Albion and has provided an answer to Michael Ellison's problem at left full-back, following the departure of Linnets' record appearance holder Matt Atherton to Ramsbottom United in the close season.

With an extremely hard act to follow, the energetic 18-year-old has slotted in very effectively into what isn't a natural position.

It was as an attacking player that he was signed by Witton's manager Carl Macauley from Bolton Wanderers in August 2016 before being allowed to move across Cheshire to The Millbank Linnets Stadium.

Danny played for the Under 18s team at the Macron Stadium and made one appearance in Premier League 2 as a substitute in an away game against Middlesbrough on April 4th 2015.

His enthusiasm and tenacity were immediately apparent on arrival at Runcorn and his early-season displays for the Linnets have certainly earmarked him as a very exciting young prospect.

He was our first-team Player of the Month Award winner for August '16.

Danny left the Millbank Linnets Stadium in September 2017 to rejoin Witton Albion although the Linnets retained his registration in The Hallmark Security League.

Runcorn Linnets would like to thank Runcorn Supporters Club who has kindly sponsored Danny McKenna.
