09 Aug 2023 : Switch to new club website from 10am tomorrow

We're launching a new club website for the start of the new season.

The address remains the same www.runcornlinnetsfc.co.uk but it will have a fresh design with some new features as well as many of the old favourites.

We hope you will like the new site and find it easy to use and navigate.

The switch over will take place from 10am on Thursday 10th August when we will say goodbye to the current website, which has served us so well.

We know you will all be eager to see the new site - we can't wait either! - but please be patient as it could take up to a week for the transfer to complete.

08 Aug 2023 : Ex-Port Vale teenager Che Trapasso signs on at APEC Taxis Stadium

Teenager Che Trapasso has joined Runcorn Linnets - treading a path already taken by Billy Paynter, his new manager at APEC Taxis Stadium.

A midfielder/wide player Che joins the Yellow & Greens from EFL League One club, Port Vale.

Prior to joining Linnets last summer, initially as first team coach, Billy was Professional Development Phase Lead Coach at the Potteries club.

It was also at Port Vale that the boss began his career, after being scouted in his native Liverpool as a ten year old, going on to make 144 EFL appearances for them with 30 goals.

Last season Che played a key part, alongside his brother Alessandro, in Port Vale Under 18s' trailblazing run in the FA Youth Cup, the siblings having graduated from junior football on Merseyside. By the time Che arrived at Vale, Billy had departed.

The Burslem club reached the FA Youth fourth round for the first time in 10 years in 2022-23, eventually losing 1-0 to Liverpool in front of an 1,800 home crowd at Vale Park.

After overcoming Chesterfield 3-1 in the first round at Kidsgrove's Autonet Insurance Stadium, the young Valiants knocked out Salford City in round two with Che's first-half goal decisive in a 1-0 victory at the same Northern Premier League venue.

Che netted his second of the competition when the third round brought Hull City to Vale Park, the hosts triumphing 3-0.

We hope you enjoy your time with us, Che!

08 Aug 2023 : Kenny Brown arrives at Runcorn Linnets - via USA

Our latest signing, striker Kenny Brown is a globetrotting footballer, now back on his native Merseyside.

The 24-year-old from Liverpool is fresh from University in the USA, where he successfully combined 'soccer' with his academic studies.

Kenny is a former youth team player at Prescot Cables, who prior to arriving at Hope Street had been at Chester and Crewe and also in the Academies at both Everton and Liverpool.

A move to the States initially took him to Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, and then to West Texas A&M University in Canyon, where he majored in civil engineering.

In final year, 2022, Kenny excelled with 10 goals in 19 games (including 16 starts) with two match winners and four assists.

His performances led to a number of accolades, notably the Lone Star Conference's Forward of the Year award and a place in the All-LSC first team select XI.

Welcome, Kenny. We hope you enjoy your stay!

07 Aug 2023 : Boss reflects on the ups and downs of final friendly

Runcorn Linnets boss Billy Paynter gave media manager Sam Phillips a further update after Saturday's final warm-up game against Ashton United. It saw us narrowly beaten by the NPL Premier Division side, who are managed by ex-Linnets skipper Steve Cunningham.

SP: Billy, thanks for joining us. A 2-1 defeat by opponents one division our senior to close pre-season. What are your thoughts?

BP: Firstly, I'd like to thank Ashton for coming to the APEC Taxis Stadium and for giving us a competitive game. With a few players missing from the start, it was good to see that we have the squad strength to fill those gaps. I was really happy with our display in the first half.

We created numerous opportunities but were hesitant to shoot at the right time - instead taking that extra touch. However, it was good to see the patterns of play we have worked on in training being put into a match scenario.

SP: Again, rotation after half-time seemed to affect us and unfortunately, some of the changes we made were enforced?

BP: As in the other pre- season games, utilising subs can disrupt the shape at times. But it's important that we looked at trialists over the course of the pre-season and by doing so, we've had joy in being able to bring in a few more new signings to add to what we already had. The down side to the day was the three injuries, obviously.

SP: What is the latest with those injuries?

BP: Will (Saxon) is fine. We'll monitor the situation with Sam (Barrett) over the next few days. The knee injury picked up by Jamie (Rainford) is the most serious. I'm gutted for him and wish him a speedy recovery.

SP: Yes, it's never nice to see anyone being stretchered off, but particularly when the player concerned has only just returned at the end of last season from a lengthy injury lay-off. I'm sure every one involved with the club will echo your good wishes with regards to Jamie and his recuperation. Thanks again for the update.

BP: No problem, Sam. Now that pre-season is over, we get down to business and focus on the league visit of Chasetown this Saturday.
